Favorite Food Friday – Grilled New York Strip Steak

Grilled New York Strip Steak - Coral Reef - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week: Grilled New York Strip Steak
Location: Coral Reef, Epcot
Cost: $33.00

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  Our food this week comes from the Coral Reef at Epcot.   Fish are friends, not food, or so my wife thought as she ordered the New York strip steak at the Coral Reef.   This steak was well prepared and had good flavor, but didn’t stand up to our LeCellier standards.   The steak is served with h Cheddar Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, and Bercy Butter.   It is an excellent choice for those finding themselves at the Coral Reef and not wanting to have seafood :).

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week we stop at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa and check out The Artist’s Palette, this resorts quick service location.   We find the quick service spots are a great to catch a bite to eat when returning from the parks to get in some swim time.   The day we stopped by the Artist’s Palette their daily special was the Seared Salmon, this was a generous slice of salmon with roasted potatoes and broccoli.   I loved this meal, the salmon was cooked well and had great flavor. The sides were good as well and made for a great meal.

Favorite Food Friday – S.E.A Shu Mai

S.E.A Shu Mai - Skipper Canteen - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week:  S.E.A Shu Mai
Location: Skipper Canteen – Magic Kingdom
Cost: $10

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week we head back to the Skipper Canteen to try one of the appetizers.   As you can see from the shot above we chose the S.E.A. SHU MAI.   It is a legendary blend of Pork, Shrimp, Mung Beans, and spices wrapped in Gyoza Skin then steamed.   We were presently surprised by this one, over all the flavor was great and the added sauce really helped to pull out the flavor.   The sauce itself is hot, but since it comes in it’s own container it’s very easy to add a little or a lot if you like it hot.

Coral Reef - Seared Mahi Mahi - Epcot - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week: Seared Mahi Mahi
Location: Coral Reef, Epcot
Cost: $26.99

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week we are watching some fish while eating some fish at the Coral Reef at Epcot.   The Coral Reef is nestled in behind the The Seas with Nemo and Friends attraction at Epcot.  They offer a variety of dishes, on this occasion I selected the Seared Mahi Mahi served with Laughing Bird Shrimp, Hearts of Palm, Jasmine Rice, Cilantro, and a Coconut-Lime Sauce.   I waited for a bit to hear the shrimp laugh or even chip like a bird, but nothing.  So I dove right in and overall the dish was good, the fish itself was well cooked and was very flaky.     The rice with lime sauce was just OK, overall I found it not to have as much flavor as I would have hoped which made the dish seem somewhat bland.

Schweitzer Slush - Skipper Canteen - Magic Kingdom - Favorite Food Friday - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week: Schweitzer Slush
Location: Skipper Canteen, Magic Kingdom
Cost: $5.50

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week we staying at the Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom.   If you love traveling with the Skippers from the Jungle Cruise, then you will love eating at this restaurant.   On our visit they were out of the souvenir cup, but that didn’t stop us from trying the Schweitzer Slush.   The slush if full of flavor  and consists of frozen apple juice and passion fruit with bursting green apple boba balls.   I know your thinking what the heck are boba balls, well you mix seaweed extract with calcium chloride ….. well let this video explain – https://youtu.be/zyO1HvZ9EhI   The fun part about these balls is you eat them and they have a sugar water type taste inside – so fun we loved them and the drink had amazing flavor.   This will definitely help you cool off in the upcoming summer months.
