Skipper Canteen - Magic Kingdom - Favorite Food Friday - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week: Skip’s Mac and Cheese
Location: Skipper Canteen, Magic Kingdom
Cost: $19.00

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week we stopped by the new Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom.   If you love traveling with the Skippers from the Jungle Cruise, then you will love eating at this restaurant.   Yes corny jokes are free with every meal.   After hearing from a few others that had already stopped in at the Canteen, I knew going in that I was going to try the Mac and Cheese.  This is definitely one Mac and Cheese that I would get again, both my wife and son also tried it and loved it.   The Mac and Cheese is described as “A typical Egyptian dish consisting of Spiced Ground Beef, pasta and Bechamal sauce served with broccoli”   The spiced ground beef and sauce gave it somewhat of a chili mac taste.   I loved ever bit of it definitely worth a try if you find yourself hungry from your cruise.

Location: Sunshine Seasons, Epcot
Cost: $12.99

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week we head over to Epcot and our favorite counter service restaurant in Future World, Sunshine Seasons.   Yesterday I tried the Slow Roasted Pork Chop, with BBQ sauce mashed potatoes and corn.   Overall a great lunch, the pork was cooked just right and had great flavor.    I did scrape off much of the BBQ sauce on the pork as it was a bit spicier then what I like.   What’s your favorite meal at Sunshine Seasons?

Favorite Food Friday – Darth Vader Cupcake

Darth Vader Cupcake - Favorite Food Friday - TravelDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week: Darth Vader Cupcake
Location: Backlot Express, Hollywood Studios
Cost: $10.99

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week Star Wars continues to break records at the box office, and we are still on the Dark Side with the Darth Vader Cupcake.   Last week we teased you with the Dark Side Chicken and Waffles, and now for dessert we recommend you stay with us on the Dark Side and choose the Darth Vader Cupcake. mmmm So yummy it is.    I know you want to know what’s involved here, so the cupcake itself is a moist chocolate cupcake base.  On top of this chocolate cake is a mound of Peanut Butter Frosting, Yes, Peanut Butter.    On top of the frosting is even more chocolate in the form of shaved and bit pieces.   And finally at the very top you will find our leader in Dark Chocolate, Mr Darth Vader himself.    Overall we loved the cupcake, we did scrape off some of the Peanut Butter frosting as it was a bit much for us.   As you can see from the video below, the Darth Vader cupcake leaves no dessert un-turned, welcome to the dark side……

Our Favorite Food This Week: Dark Side Chicken and Waffles
Location: Backlot Express, Hollywood Studios
Cost: $10.99

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week Star Wars continues to break records at the box office, but I ask can you handle the Dark Side.   How about the Dark Side Chicken and Waffles.   Though we don’t see a lot of Darth Vader in the Force Awakens you will find him on these delicious mini waffles.   The dish consists of the standard Disney chicken tenders along with a couple small Vader Waffles.   No sauce is on the dish when you get it at the counter, they give you maple syrup and you can grab BBQ sauce or ketchup at the condiment counter.    We are a fan of both Star Wars and Chicken and Waffles so we had no problem tackling the Dark Side.   If you are a fan of Disney chicken tenders and waffles then you will like this dish, you may want to ask for an extra syrup though as one just didn’t cover it for us.   What is your favorite Star Wars food?   Let us know in the comments below…..

Our Favorite Food This Week: Poison Apple Cupcake
Location: Sunshine Seasons, Epcot
Cost: $4.39

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  This week it’s another sweet treat, the Poison Apple Cupcake from Sunshine Seasons at Epcot.   I have to be honest,  I let my wife have the first couple bites and monitored her, when enough time elapsed and she didn’t fall asleep, I dove in to this bad boy.   What come on, I didn’t want to leave our son there with both his parents in a death sleep.   Oh you would have done the same thing, but what a great cupcake.   It’s a cream cheese based frosting covered with red sugar all on top of a spiced apple cake.   mmmmm I know your mouth is watering.   We loved it, the sugar added a fun crunch to the mix and the cake was ultra moist, just the kinda thing that makes a cupcake truly special.    If you find yourself at the Sunshine Seasons be sure to give this a try, death sleep is not included.

Spicy Hand Roll - Epcot Food and Wine - Japan - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week: Spicy Hand Roll
Location: Japan Booth, Epcot Food and Wine
Cost: $5.50

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.  Today we stop by the Japan booth at the Food and Wine Festival where we get DisneyDayByDay Jr to try sushi.    We chose the Spicy Hand Roll, this roll features Tuna & Salmon with Chili Pepper, Soy Sauce & Sesame Oil Topped with Kazan Volcano Sauce.   Overall the flavor was great, yes the volcano sauce does have a kick, but it complemented the roll and added enough flavor to keep your mouth wanting more.    This is one we would definitely try again, yes even DisneyDayByDay Jr agrees.
