Did You Know Today’s TIGGERIFIC TUESDAY TRIVIA About the Tomorrowland Speedway?

Tomorrowland Speedway 7I can’t drive 55, err 7.5 mph.   Did you know that when you slam that pedal to the metal on the Tomorrowland Speedway you are going a whole 7.5 mph!!!   No, there are no cops on your tail so feel free to sit back and enjoy the ride but avoid the rail otherwise you will be bounced back and forth on the track.

Tomorrowland Speedway is one of the original attractions at Disney World opening in Oct of 1971.   There are around 140 cars that can be used on the 4/10 mile track.

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia: Pirates of the Caribbean

Did You Know Today’s TIGGERIFIC TUESDAY TRIVIA About The Pirates Of The Caribbean?

Pirates of the Caribbean SignWhen Walt Disney World opened in 1971 it was missing one of the greatest attractions, Pirates of the Caribbean.   Why was this?   Well turns out the landlubbing Imagineers didn’t think that the Florida residents would take to a Caribbean attraction due to its proximity.   Needless to say the guests didn’t think the same and demanded it.

After it’s introduction in 1973 it quickly became one of the most popular attractions at the park.   But it was an E ticket t’ ride which cost 85 cents for adult and 75 cents per child, so start savin’ your nickels.

There will be extra entertainment throughout the day and night, including characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.
  • In California, you’ll be able to party the night away at both parks with special entertainment including: a “Monsters University” “TLT Monstrous” Dance Club and Star Wars characters in Tomorrowland and late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland park. What is this spinning rock in Tomorrowland?

You have walked by it, you have observed people running their hands over it, you have thought – “What the heck is that?”  It’s the Kugel Ball!   Sure, now it all makes sense, right?

Kugel BallWell then what is a Kugel Ball?   A Kugel Ball is simply a sculpture of a granite ball supported by a thin layer of water.   The granite ball must be supported by a base that is the exact same curvature as the ball to provide the exact area of water to allow the ball to move.   The Disney kugel ball weighs in at around 6 tons.

Who doesn’t want to go home from vacation and say that they stopped a 6 ton granite ball?   So, next time, don’t just pass by, join in the fun and stop the ball and change its direction it just may change yours.
