Awhile back we were honored to host a #DisneySide Home Celebration Party. It was a blast and I’m thrilled to share some of the highlights with you. Welcome to the party…..
Our party contained a group of energetic 9 year old boys, so as you can imagine it was exciting, and filled with food and fun.
We covered the party room with all the fun decorations from our #DisneySide @Home Celebration kit. The table cover, Mickey plates, and decorations created a festive atmosphere that any Disney lover would have envied. Thanks to our local Dollar Tree Store, we were able to buy cheap felt Disney character buckets that we filled with many of the items from the #DisneySide kit along with a couple additions found at our local grocery store.
Bingo with Disney Prizes
BINGO! Yes, competition became tense between these boys with this game provided in our #DisneySide package. In fact, this was their favorite activity. We played BINGO many times, giving everyone a chance to win one of our exciting Disney prizes. We used pretzel squares to mark our places, although at times there seemed to be more eating of the chips then playing.
Food, Food, and More Food
Every party has to have food, and when DisneyDayByDay is involved you know there is going to be lots of snacks. We had many Disney themed pre-packed items such as fruit snacks and rice crispy treats. We also had some fun Mickey shaped chocolate chip cookies and brownies thanks to the cookie cutters supplied by our kit.
Mickey Pizza Creation
After working up an appetite playing games we pulled out our pizza crusts and had each of the boys make their very own Mickey-shaped Pizza. As you can see we used a Mickey template to cut the pre-made crusts to form the shape. I helped with the sauce spreading and everyone put their favorite toppings on. We even cut out Mickey-shaped pepperoni. He’s everywhere 🙂
As we wrapped up our pizza it was time to get crafty. Yeah, you could hear the air deflating from the room as I asked the guests to gather around for a craft. I guess 9 year old boys don’t rank crafting high on the must-do list. In fact, the only thing they find interesting about crafts is Minecraft. But we quickly turned their disinterest around with a manly melting bead craft.
We found this fun craft, making sun catchers, on the web. Believe me, if I can do it, the craft is easy! Basically all you do is melt beads in a pan. The steps are simple and the boys loved trying different colors to see how they would look after melting.
If you would like to create your own Sun Catcher, just watch our video or follow these simple steps:
- Purchase Pony beads (translucent are the best for sun catchers)
- Select a pan. We liked using the cupcake pan to allow everyone at the party to create their own and try different colors. Do not spray the pan with any cooking spray.
- While you are making your creation, pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Place the pans in the oven and check them around 28 minutes. Some of ours took up to 35 minutes to fully melt.
- Be sure to have your oven fan going and a window open if possible as it is melting plastic so there will be a smell. We had our partiers head outside to play while they melted.
Can you have a party with 9 year old boys and not have video games come into the picture? Thanks to our Disney Infinity, we headed into toy box mode and started building our own Disney world. Everyone was able to pick their favorite character for game play.
Boys will be Boys
As the party wrapped up the boys headed outside for some silly string fun and foam sword fighting. Many of them were headed off to sports games so we let them make their own trail mix before heading out with their goodie bags.
Thanks again to Disney and all the sponsors including American Tourister, HP, and Ocean Spray. Hosting our party was a Blast!!! If you would like to host your own #DisneySide @Home Celebration, be sure to head to their website for great ideas.
