Our Favorite Food This Week: Open-faced Chicken Sandwich
Location: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (Epcot – Norway)
Price: Adult price range: $41.53-$50.05 (depends on time of year)
On our last trip to Disney World we brought along my wife’s niece, which gave me the perfect excuse to head to Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Norway in Epcot’s World Showcase. Not only is there great food, but you get to meet some of our favorite Princesses. I got to meet, umm I mean our niece got to meet Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Princess Aurora, and Ariel.
Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is a little different than your standard restaurant. You pay one price to get in the door and this covers your meal and a non-alcoholic beverage along with a picture of your group with a Princess. There is a small buffet as the appetizer, you then order your main course, and then the desserts are a selection to share. I ordered the Open-faced Chicken Sandwich as my main course which included sourdough bread with tomatoes, arugula, bacon, mushroom vinaigrette, Jarlsberg cheese, and lingonberry mayonnaise, served with a choice of soup. The chicken was moist and I loved the mix of flavors.

Can I just say YUM!
Yes I can and we did – thanks for stopping by today!
I love Akershus for the princesses and the desserts, but not the main menu, LOL. Love chicken, not this one so much though 🙁 One word Sean; desserts ♥

Oh i know, I was looking for the picture of the desserts, but turns out they didn’t last long enough to get the camera out. Guess we have to go back and try again. Thanks for coming by the blog today!
That looks delicious! I’m so glad you got to meet the princesses er, I mean your niece;) Akerhaus is so much fun and the food is great. We haven’t been in a few years I think it’s time we go back.
I know with only a son we have had to skip a few places on our trips, with our niece on this trip we got to try a few “new” places.
I like Akershus a lot – I had the salmon there, but that chicken sandwich looks pretty good!
I was looking at the salmon, but had some from the buffet so was looking for a non-fish main. When we go back I will give the salmon a shot. Thanks for stopping in today and linking up with the hop.
I’ve never been to Akershus before. I had heard the food was Norweigan and figured they wouldn’t have anything I would like. That chicken sandwich looks great though! Maybe I’ll have to go there sometime!
You will get a lot of fish, but the appetizer buffet had fruit and many other types of meats. Our son who isn’t a fan of fish at all did just fine. They had a couple chicken dishes, a beef dish, and a stuff pasta dish as I recall for lunch. And the desserts are outstanding! Give it a try sometime 🙂
Pasta! There we go, I’ll have plenty to eat then! I love pasta and chicken. I try to avoid fish. There’s only a couple types I’ll even eat. Up until about a year ago, I wouldn’t eat any fish at all.
Looks delicious! We haven’t eaten there since our 6 year old was 2, but are thinking of giving it a try again. Glad you, I mean, your niece, liked her princess experience!
Yummmy Hoping to try Akershus on our next visit 🙂
